Overview

Cellenis Exo-ME is a skin booster made from your own blood. At Jade Aesthetics in Wheaton, IL, we take a small blood sample, and the Cellenis system spins, activates, and filters it into a concentrated preparation of extracellular vesicles, the tiny messengers that include exosomes, along with bioactive proteins. Your provider then places it in your skin with very fine needles.

Exo-ME is new. Aesthetic Management Partners introduced it in October 2026, and it comes from Cellenis, the same line as the PRP Dermafiller we already offer. Most exosome treatments use lab-made exosomes from donor cells or plants. Everything in Exo-ME comes from you. It is meant to improve the quality of your skin, such as tone, texture, fine lines, and glow, rather than add volume.

What are exosomes, and how is Exo-ME different?

Exosomes are tiny packages cells use to send signals to each other. Most exosome treatments use lab-made exosomes from donor stem cells or plants. Exo-ME concentrates the ones already in your own blood.

Exosomes belong to a larger family called extracellular vesicles: sealed bubbles, far smaller than a cell, that carry proteins and other signals from one cell to the next. Cellenis uses “exosomes” as shorthand for all the vesicles in Exo-ME that are 200 nanometers or smaller, of which exosomes are one type.

The lab-made exosome serums used with microneedling come from cultured donor cells or plants and are applied to the skin’s surface. Exo-ME starts with your blood instead. It is prepared at your appointment, used within a few hours, and never stored, which is the same way PRP is handled.

Exo-ME vs PRP vs Cellenis Dermafiller

All three are made from your own blood, but each does a different job. PRP delivers growth factors, Dermafiller adds volume, and Exo-ME concentrates extracellular vesicles for overall skin quality.

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a concentrate of platelets and the growth factors they release. Our Cellenis PRP Dermafiller turns your plasma into a soft gel that fills hollows the way a filler does. Exo-ME goes a step further than PRP: the plasma is activated and filtered so the extracellular vesicles are concentrated and cell debris is removed.

They can be combined. Exo-ME and Dermafiller on the same day is one of the maker’s protocols for patients who want both volume and better skin. Exo-ME is not mixed with hyaluronic acid filler in the same syringe; if both are used, they go in 15 to 30 minutes apart.

Can Exo-ME be combined with microneedling or Sylfirm X?

Yes. Applied right after microneedling, RF microneedling, a laser, or a peel, Exo-ME can reach the skin through the open channels while it is already repairing itself.

This is the same idea as adding a lab-made exosome serum after microneedling or Sylfirm X, except the exosomes come from you. Your provider will tell you which pairing fits your skin, and whether Exo-ME works better on its own or as part of a plan.

Is Exo-ME FDA approved?

No. The FDA has not approved any exosome product, and Exo-ME is not approved to treat any skin or hair condition. Research on exosomes from blood for skin and hair is still early.

The FDA’s public safety notification on exosome products states that there are no FDA-approved exosome products. Exo-ME is made from your own blood at your visit with a single-use kit, the way PRP is, rather than from donor material.

The evidence is young. A 2025 review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found only lab and animal studies of exosomes from platelet-rich plasma for hair growth and skin rejuvenation, and no human trials yet. We tell patients that plainly, and your provider will help you weigh Exo-ME against treatments with longer track records.

Benefits

  • Made from your own blood

No donor cells, plant extracts, or synthetic ingredients, so allergic reactions are not expected.

  • Skin quality, not volume

Meant to improve the look of uneven tone, dullness, fine lines, large pores, and rough texture.

  • Little downtime

Most people have mild redness that fades within a day and can wear makeup the next morning.

  • Pairs with other treatments

Can follow microneedling, Sylfirm X, or a peel, and can be combined with PRP or Dermafiller.

What to expect

  1. 1

    Consultation

Your provider reviews your skin, goals, and health history, then decides where Exo-ME goes and whether to pair it with another treatment.

  2. 2

    Blood draw

A small amount of blood, similar to a routine lab draw, is taken from your arm.

  3. 3

    Processing

In about 15 minutes, the Cellenis system spins your blood twice, activates the plasma, and filters it to concentrate the extracellular vesicles. It is made fresh and used at the same visit. Numbing cream goes on while you wait.

  4. 4

    Treatment

Your provider places the preparation into the treatment area with very fine needles, or applies it right after microneedling. This part takes about 15 to 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Aftercare

You get aftercare instructions and a date for your next session, about a month later.
