Sculptra & Radiesse Biostimulators

Stimulate your body's own collagen for gradual, long-lasting volume restoration

Overview

Sculptra and Radiesse are biostimulatory injectables that work differently from traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. Rather than simply filling lines and wrinkles with a gel, these products stimulate your body's own natural collagen production, gradually rebuilding volume and improving skin structure from within. At Jade Aesthetics in Wheaton, IL, we offer both of these FDA-approved treatments to help patients achieve natural-looking, long-lasting facial rejuvenation.

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and works by triggering a controlled inflammatory response that stimulates new collagen growth over several months. It is especially effective for restoring volume in the temples, cheeks, and jawline. Radiesse is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a gel carrier, providing immediate structure while also stimulating long-term collagen production. Radiesse is also FDA-cleared for use on the backs of the hands.

Patients across DuPage County choose Jade Aesthetics for biostimulator treatments because our providers understand the art and science behind these products. Results develop gradually and look completely natural — no one will know you had a treatment, they will simply notice that you look refreshed and youthful. For patients seeking comprehensive anti-aging rejuvenation that lasts well beyond what traditional fillers can offer, Sculptra and Radiesse at our Wheaton med spa provide a powerful, proven solution.

What to Expect

1

Comprehensive Consultation

Your provider performs a detailed facial assessment to identify areas of volume loss, evaluates your skin quality, and discusses whether Sculptra, Radiesse, or a combination of both is best suited to your goals and anatomy.

2

Pre-Treatment Preparation

The treatment areas are cleansed and marked. A topical or local anesthetic may be applied, and the product may be mixed with lidocaine for additional comfort during injection.

3

Strategic Injection

Your provider injects the biostimulator into the targeted deep tissue planes using a needle or cannula. Placement is strategic and based on your facial anatomy to ensure even collagen stimulation and natural-looking volume restoration.

4

Massage Protocol (Sculptra)

If Sculptra is used, your provider massages the treated areas to ensure even product distribution. You will be instructed to continue massaging at home following the 5-5-5 rule: five minutes, five times per day, for five days.

5

Follow-Up Planning

Sculptra typically requires two to three treatment sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for optimal results. Your provider will schedule your follow-up appointments and assess your progress at each visit.

Is This Right for You?

Sculptra and Radiesse are ideal for patients experiencing moderate to significant facial volume loss due to aging, weight loss, or naturally thin facial structure. They are particularly effective for individuals who want to restore a youthful facial contour without the frequent maintenance that traditional fillers require.

These treatments are best suited for patients who appreciate gradual, natural-looking results and are willing to invest in a multi-session treatment plan. They are not recommended for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who have active skin infections in the treatment area. Patients with a history of keloid scarring should discuss this with their provider before proceeding.

Aftercare

  • For Sculptra: massage treated areas for five minutes, five times daily, for five days (the 5-5-5 rule)
  • Apply ice to treated areas to minimize swelling and bruising
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat for 48 hours
  • Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment
  • Expect mild swelling, redness, and possible bruising for three to seven days
  • Avoid other facial treatments in the injection areas for at least two weeks

Results & Timeline

With Radiesse, you will see an immediate improvement in volume from the gel carrier, with collagen stimulation adding further improvement over the following two to four months. Results typically last 12 to 18 months.

Sculptra results develop more gradually. Initial swelling may create the appearance of volume for a few days, but this subsides. Over the following six to twelve weeks, new collagen builds progressively, and results become more apparent after each treatment session. Full results are typically visible three to six months after your final session and can last two years or longer with proper maintenance.
