What is Cellenis Exo-ME? Exosomes from your own blood

J
Jade Aesthetics7 min read

Exosomes are everywhere in skincare right now, usually as a lab-made serum applied after microneedling. Cellenis Exo-ME takes a different route. It concentrates the exosomes already in your own blood and turns them into a skin booster, prepared during your appointment.

The one-line answer: Exo-ME is the next step from PRP. A small blood sample is spun, activated, and filtered into a concentrated preparation of extracellular vesicles, the tiny messengers that include exosomes, and your provider places it in your skin with very fine needles. It is meant to improve skin quality, such as tone, texture, fine lines, and glow, rather than add volume.

Exo-ME is new. Aesthetic Management Partners introduced it in October 2026 as part of its Cellenis line, so there is not much written about it yet. This guide covers what it is, how it compares with treatments you may already know, and what the evidence does and does not show.

What are exosomes?

#

Exosomes are tiny sealed packages that cells release to send signals to other cells. They carry proteins, lipids, and genetic material, and researchers are studying how those signals affect repair, inflammation, and collagen in the skin.

Exosomes belong to a larger family called extracellular vesicles, or EVs. In Cellenis materials, “exosomes” is shorthand for all the vesicles in Exo-ME that are 200 nanometers or smaller, of which exosomes are one type. A red blood cell is roughly 35 times wider than that.

Our guide to exosomes vs RF microneedling explains how lab-made exosome serums are used with needling, which is the more common way clinics offer exosomes today.

How is Exo-ME different from other exosome treatments?

#

The difference is the source. Most exosome products are made in a lab from donor stem cells or plants. Exo-ME is made from your own blood, at your visit, and used within a few hours.

Because nothing in Exo-ME comes from another person, a plant, or a lab culture, allergic reactions are not expected. The same is true of PRP.

How is Exo-ME different from PRP?

#

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, concentrates platelets and the growth factors they release. Exo-ME starts the same way but goes further: the plasma is mechanically activated, spun a second time to remove cells and debris, and passed through two filters, leaving a concentrate of extracellular vesicles and bioactive proteins.

The Cellenis line now has three blood-based options, and each does a different job:

What you noticeGradual changeVolume right awayTone, texture, and glow over weeks

They can be combined. Exo-ME and Cellenis PRP Dermafiller on the same day is one of the maker’s protocols for people who want both volume and better skin.

What happens at an Exo-ME appointment?

#

An Exo-ME visit takes about 45 minutes, and most people go back to their day afterward.

  1. Blood draw. A small sample, similar to a routine lab draw, is taken from your arm.
  2. Processing. The Cellenis system spins your blood, activates and spins the plasma again, then filters it. This takes about 15 to 17 minutes, and numbing cream can go on while you wait.
  3. Treatment. Your provider places the preparation into the treatment area with very fine needles, or applies it right after a microneedling pass. This takes about 15 to 30 minutes.

Most people rate the discomfort at 2 to 3 out of 10, similar to or milder than a PRP treatment.

What can Exo-ME help with?

#

Exo-ME is designed for skin quality and, according to the maker, can improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and firmness, including stretch marks
  • Texture and clarity, such as rough skin, large pores, and marks left by breakouts
  • Tone and brightness, such as sun spots, uneven tone, and dullness
  • Hair and scalp, as part of a scalp plan that often pairs Exo-ME with PRP

It does not add volume the way a filler does, and it does not relax muscles the way Botox does. If your main concern is hollowing or deep folds, Dermafiller or a biostimulator like Sculptra is usually the better starting point.

What does the research say?

#

Honestly, it is early. Lab studies suggest that extracellular vesicles carry signals linked to repair and collagen, which is why the field is so active. Human evidence for this specific use is still thin.

A 2025 review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology looked for studies of exosomes from platelet-rich plasma for hair growth and skin rejuvenation. It found only lab and animal studies, and concluded that there is little information so far and more research is needed. The published human studies of exosomes for skin mostly use lab-made exosomes, not ones from your own blood.

That does not mean Exo-ME does not work. It means the claims you can trust today come from the maker and from provider experience, and larger studies will tell us more. We would rather tell you that up front.

Is Exo-ME FDA approved?

#

No. The FDA states that there are no FDA-approved exosome products, and Exo-ME is not approved to treat any skin or hair condition.

Exo-ME is prepared from your own blood at your visit with a single-use kit, the way PRP is, rather than from donor material. It is still a medical procedure, so it should be done by a licensed provider who reviews your health history first.

Who should not get Exo-ME?

#

Exo-ME is not recommended if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have active cancer or have recently finished cancer treatment
  • Have a blood disorder such as hemophilia or platelet dysfunction
  • Have a fever, an active infection, or a skin infection where you would be treated

If you take blood thinners or medications that suppress the immune system, tell your provider. Treatment may still be possible with precautions, and bruising is more likely on blood thinners.

What is the downtime after Exo-ME?

#

Downtime is short. Mild redness, like a light sunburn, is the main visible effect, and for most people it fades within 24 hours. Most people can wear makeup the next morning, and skin looks back to normal within 48 hours. Tenderness, slight swelling, or a small bruise can also happen and usually settle within a day or two.

For the first 24 to 48 hours:

  • Skip makeup for 12 to 24 hours after a facial treatment.
  • Avoid intense exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms.
  • Stay out of direct sun and pause exfoliants and active skincare.

After that, daily SPF 30 or higher is the most useful habit for protecting your results.

How many sessions do you need, and how long does it last?

#

The maker’s standard plan is three sessions about a month apart, with a fresh blood draw each time. Many people start to notice a difference within one to two weeks, and each session’s result is at its best around four to six weeks, building on the one before.

According to the maker, results can last up to 10 to 12 months after the series, with maintenance every 6 to 12 months. Results vary from person to person, and your provider will set a plan around your skin and goals.

Is Exo-ME right for you?

#

Exo-ME is a good fit if you want better tone, texture, and glow, prefer a treatment made only from your own blood, and are comfortable with a newer option whose research is still catching up. It can also boost a treatment you already get, such as microneedling or Sylfirm X.
