The CoolSculpting Elite system features redesigned applicators with a larger cooling surface area and an improved fit that conforms more closely to the body's contours. What to Expect
Body Contouring Consultation
Your provider evaluates your areas of concern, assesses the amount and distribution of pinchable fat, takes measurements and photographs, and designs a personalized CoolSculpting treatment plan with realistic expectations.
Applicator Placement
A gel pad is placed on the treatment area to protect the skin, and the CoolSculpting Elite applicator is positioned. The applicator uses gentle suction to draw the tissue between the cooling panels.
Cooling Cycle
The applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling for 35 to 75 minutes depending on the area. During this time, you can relax, read, work on a laptop, or watch a show. You may feel intense cold and pulling initially, which subsides within the first five to ten minutes as the area numbs.
Post-Cycle Massage
After each cooling cycle, the applicator is removed and your provider performs a brief manual massage on the treated area. This has been shown to enhance fat cell elimination and improve results.
Additional Cycles
If your treatment plan includes multiple areas, additional applicators are placed and the process is repeated. With CoolSculpting Elite's dual applicators, two areas can often be treated simultaneously.
Is This Right for You?
CoolSculpting Elite is ideal for individuals who are at or near their target weight but have localized pockets of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. The best candidates have pinchable fat in areas such as the abdomen, love handles, thighs, bra line, back, upper arms, or under the chin.
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss procedure and is not appropriate for individuals who are significantly overweight or obese. It is also not recommended for patients with cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. Pregnant or nursing women should not undergo treatment.
Aftercare
- You may resume all normal activities immediately — no restrictions on work, exercise, or daily routines
- Expect temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tingling, or numbness in the treated area for one to two weeks
- Some patients experience a cramping or aching sensation in the treated area for a few days, which is normal
- Maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise to preserve your results
- Avoid wearing tight, constrictive clothing over the treated area for a few days if the area is tender
- Be patient — visible results develop gradually over the following weeks as your body processes the destroyed fat cells
Results & Timeline
CoolSculpting results are not immediate. After treatment, the crystallized fat cells undergo a natural process called apoptosis (cell death) and are gradually eliminated by your body's lymphatic system over the following weeks and months.
Most patients begin to notice visible changes within three to four weeks, with the most dramatic results appearing at the two to three month mark. Final results are typically seen at four to six months post-treatment. Each CoolSculpting cycle can reduce fat in the treated area by approximately 20 to 25 percent. Some patients choose additional treatment cycles for further reduction, which can be performed once the initial results have fully developed.
