Spotlight Facial
Light microneedling with hyaluronic acid, exosomes, and topical micro-tox for a smooth, luminous, camera-ready complexion

Overview
The Spotlight facial is our event-prep treatment, built for the week before a wedding, a reunion, a milestone birthday, or any day you want to look especially rested. At Jade Aesthetics in Wheaton, IL, it begins with a light pass of microneedling that opens thousands of superficial micro-channels across the face. Through those channels, your provider applies hyaluronic acid for deep hydration, exosomes to support the skin's repair and radiance, and a micro-dose of neurotoxin applied to the surface rather than injected. The result is skin that reads smoother, tighter, and more luminous in person and on camera.
Topical micro-tox works very differently from injectable Botox. Because it is applied to the skin and carried only as deep as the micro-channels allow, it does not reach the muscles that create expression lines. What patients notice instead is a refined surface: pores look smaller, oil and shine are calmer, and fine surface texture looks softer. It is a cosmetic, surface-level effect that is temporary, and it is an off-label use of neurotoxin that your provider will explain plainly at your consultation.
Patients from Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, and across DuPage County book the Spotlight facial because it delivers a noticeable change in a single visit with very little downtime. Mild pinkness typically settles within 24 hours, which is why we suggest scheduling about a week before your event so the glow has time to peak.

What to Expect
Consultation and Timing
Your provider reviews your skin, your event date, and anything else on your calendar, such as injectables or a peel, to make sure the Spotlight facial lands at the right moment. Topical micro-tox is discussed in plain terms, including that it is an off-label use.
Cleanse and Numb
Makeup and oil are removed and a topical numbing cream is applied so the microneedling pass is comfortable.
Light Microneedling
A microneedling pen makes a superficial pass across the face. The depth is kept light on purpose; the goal is to open channels for the ingredients, not to trigger the longer recovery of a full collagen-induction session.
Hyaluronic Acid, Exosomes, and Micro-Tox
While the channels are open, hyaluronic acid, exosomes, and a micro-dose of neurotoxin are applied to the skin in sequence and worked gently across the treatment areas.
Soothe and Protect
A calming layer and broad-spectrum sunscreen finish the session. You leave lightly pink, similar to a brisk walk in the cold, with instructions for the next 24 hours.
Is This Right for You?
The Spotlight facial suits anyone with an event on the calendar who wants their skin to look its most hydrated, smooth, and even without a long recovery. It is popular with brides and wedding guests, with patients heading into photographs or onto a stage, and with anyone whose skin looks dull or shows enlarged pores and shine under bright lights.
It is not recommended during pregnancy or nursing, over active breakouts, cold sores, or irritated skin, for patients taking isotretinoin, or for anyone with an allergy to neurotoxin or a neuromuscular condition. If your concern is deeper expression lines, laxity, or pigment, your provider will tell you honestly whether Botox, Sylfirm X, or a VI Peel is the better fit, and may suggest sequencing one of those ahead of a Spotlight facial.
Aftercare
- Keep the skin clean and free of products, apart from what your provider recommends, for the rest of the day so the actives can settle
- Avoid makeup for 24 hours while the micro-channels close
- Skip sweaty exercise, saunas, pools, and hot showers for 24 to 48 hours
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and vitamin C for about five days
- Wear SPF 30 or higher daily and stay out of direct sun for several days
- Do not rub, massage, or use facial tools on the skin for 48 hours
Results & Timeline
Mild pinkness typically settles within 24 hours. The hydration from the hyaluronic acid is visible right away, and the skin looks progressively smoother and brighter over the next several days as it recovers from the light microneedling pass.
The glow typically peaks within the first week, which is why we recommend booking about a week before your event. The surface effects of topical micro-tox are temporary and fade gradually. For lasting change in texture or tone, a Spotlight facial can be folded into a longer plan with microneedling, DiamondGlow, or Sylfirm X.
What is in the Spotlight facial?
The Spotlight facial combines three ingredients delivered through a light microneedling pass: hyaluronic acid, exosomes, and a micro-dose of topical neurotoxin, often called micro-tox. The microneedling itself is kept superficial. Its job here is to open thousands of tiny channels in the outer skin so the ingredients can get past the surface, not to drive the deeper collagen response of a full microneedling session.
Hyaluronic acid is the hydration step. It binds water in the skin, which is what gives the plumped, dewy finish and helps fine dehydration lines look softer. Exosomes are cell-derived signaling particles used in aesthetics to support the skin's repair and recovery after needling and to add to overall radiance. Micro-tox is a very small amount of the same neurotoxin used in injectable Botox, applied to the skin surface instead of injected into muscle. At that depth it does not affect expression; what patients see is calmer oil and shine, pores that look smaller, and a smoother surface texture.
Topical micro-tox is an off-label aesthetic use of neurotoxin. Your provider at Jade Aesthetics in Wheaton will explain what that means, review your history, and make sure you are comfortable with it before anything is applied. The effect is cosmetic, surface-level, and temporary.
When should you book a Spotlight facial before an event?
Book the Spotlight facial about a week before your event. Mild pinkness typically settles within 24 hours, and the hydration and smoothness continue to build over the following days, so a week gives the glow time to peak and leaves a comfortable margin if your skin takes a little longer to calm.
If you are planning other treatments, sequencing matters. Injectables like Botox or filler are usually scheduled two or more weeks ahead so they have settled, and anything with real downtime, such as a VI Peel or Sylfirm X, belongs even earlier. The Spotlight facial is the finishing step, and your provider will map the order so nothing overlaps while your skin is healing.
Brides from Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and Naperville often book a trial Spotlight facial a month or two before the wedding, which lets them see exactly how their skin responds and how makeup sits afterward before committing to the final week.
Spotlight facial vs DiamondGlow: what is the difference?
DiamondGlow and the Spotlight facial are both no-downtime-to-low-downtime glow treatments, but they work at different depths. DiamondGlow exfoliates the surface with a diamond tip, extracts debris from the pores, and infuses a serum in the same pass, all without breaking the skin. The Spotlight facial uses light microneedling to open micro-channels and deliver hyaluronic acid, exosomes, and topical micro-tox beneath the surface.
Choose DiamondGlow if you want a bright, clean, hydrated finish with zero downtime, if your pores are congested, or if your event is only a day or two away. It is also the easier treatment to repeat monthly as maintenance. Choose the Spotlight facial if you have about a week, want a more noticeable change in smoothness and luminosity, and are interested in what the micro-tox step does for pores and shine.
They also work in sequence. Many of our patients keep DiamondGlow as their monthly facial and add a Spotlight facial in the week before something important. Your aesthetician at Jade Aesthetics will help you decide which fits your timeline and your skin.
Does the Spotlight facial hurt, and what is the downtime?
With topical numbing cream applied first, most patients describe the Spotlight facial as a light vibration or scratching sensation. Because the microneedling pass is kept superficial, it is gentler than a full collagen-induction session, and the ingredients applied afterward feel cool and soothing.
Downtime is short. Expect to look lightly pink for the rest of the day, similar to a brisk walk in the cold, and for that to settle typically within 24 hours. Skip makeup for the first day while the micro-channels close, avoid sweaty exercise and saunas for 24 to 48 hours, and hold off on retinoids and exfoliating acids for about five days. Most patients are back to their normal routine the next morning.
