Lash Lift & Tint
A lasting curl and a deeper tint for your natural lashes, with no extensions and no daily mascara

Overview
A lash lift is a gentle, perm-style treatment that curls your natural lashes from the root so they look longer, lifted, and more open, without a single extension. At Jade Aesthetics in Wheaton, IL, your lashes are combed over a soft silicone shield, a lifting solution reshapes them into a curl, and a setting solution locks the new shape in place. The lashes you leave with are entirely your own, simply curled the way a hand-held lash curler never quite manages.
A lash tint deepens the color of your lashes from root to tip, which matters more than most people expect. Natural lashes are often lighter at the ends, so the final third of your lash length can disappear against your skin. Tinting brings that length back into view and gives you the look of mascara on a bare face. Most of our patients book the lift and tint together, since the curl opens the eye and the tint defines it, and the combined appointment typically takes about an hour.
Patients come to us from Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, and across DuPage County for lash lift and tint because it fits real life. There is nothing to maintain between visits, nothing to fill, and no adhesive on the lash line. You wake up with the curl, swim with it, and work out with it, and the result softens gradually as your lashes cycle out on their own over the following weeks.
Benefits
- Lifts and curls your natural lashes with no extensions or adhesive
- Tint darkens lashes from root to tip so the full length shows
- Results typically last six to eight weeks as lashes naturally cycle
- No daily upkeep, no fills, and no mascara needed
- Comfortable, eyes-closed treatment that takes about an hour
- Pairs easily with a brow wax or facial in the same visit
What to Expect
Consultation
Your aesthetician looks at your lash length, density, and natural direction, asks about eye sensitivities and any recent eye procedures, and talks through the curl you want, from a soft lift to a more defined, open curve.
Cleanse and Shield Placement
Lashes are cleansed to remove makeup and natural oils, under-eye pads protect the lower lashes, and a silicone shield sized to your eye shape is placed on the upper lid. Your lashes are then combed up onto the shield one section at a time.
Lift and Set
A lifting solution softens the structure of the lash so it can take the shape of the shield, followed by a setting solution that locks the new curl in place. Your eyes stay closed throughout, and most patients find the sensation is simply resting.
Tint
If you have booked the tint, a lash-safe tint is brushed along the full length of the lashes and allowed to develop before it is gently removed.
Condition and Finish
A conditioning treatment is brushed through to restore moisture, the shields and pads come off, and your lashes are combed into place. You leave with no mascara and nothing to do.
Is This Right for You?
A lash lift and tint suits anyone with straight, downward-pointing, or light-colored lashes who wants a lifted, defined look without extensions or daily mascara. It is a favorite with patients who have had extensions and want a break from fills, with contact lens wearers who find extensions irritating, and with anyone who wants to look polished straight out of the pool or the gym.
It is not recommended if you have an active eye infection or stye, very sparse or brittle lashes, or if you have had eye surgery recently. Patients who are pregnant or nursing, who have very sensitive eyes, or who have reacted to lash or hair dye in the past should mention it at the consultation so your aesthetician can advise. If your lashes are very short, a lift may be less visible, and your aesthetician will tell you honestly what to expect before anything is applied.
Aftercare
- Keep your lashes completely dry for 24 hours, including steam, water on the face, and heavy sweating
- Skip mascara and eye makeup for 24 hours while the curl fully sets
- Avoid oil-based cleansers, makeup removers, and eye creams on the lash line, since oil relaxes the curl
- Do not rub your eyes or sleep face-down the first night
- Brush lashes upward with a clean spoolie each morning to keep them in shape
- Wait at least six to eight weeks before your next lift so your lashes stay healthy
Results & Timeline
The curl and tint are visible the moment the shields come off, and the result looks its best once the 24-hour setting window has passed and you can treat your lashes normally again.
A lash lift typically lasts six to eight weeks, which is simply how long it takes your natural lashes to shed and regrow. There is no sharp drop-off; the lift softens gradually as new lashes come in straight. The tint typically fades over three to four weeks, so some patients book a tint touch-up between lifts. Repeating a lift sooner than six weeks is not recommended because it can weaken the lashes.
What is a lash lift?
A lash lift is a semi-permanent curl of your own natural lashes, closer to a perm than to extensions. Your lashes are set over a curved silicone shield, a lifting solution relaxes the bonds inside each hair so it can take the shape of the shield, and a setting solution re-forms those bonds in the new curled position. Nothing is added to your lashes and nothing is glued to your lash line.
The effect is that your lashes stand up and sweep outward from the root instead of pointing straight ahead or down. Because the full length of the lash is now visible, most people look like they have longer, thicker lashes even though the count has not changed. Adding a tint deepens the color along that length, which is why the two are so often booked together.
At Jade Aesthetics in Wheaton, the whole appointment takes about an hour with your eyes closed, and you walk out with the finished result. The only rule for the rest of the day is to keep your lashes dry.
How long does a lash lift and tint last?
A lash lift typically lasts six to eight weeks, and a lash tint typically lasts three to four weeks. Neither wears off in the usual sense. The lift stays in each lash for that lash's entire life, and the result softens only because your lashes shed and regrow on a natural cycle, with new lashes coming in straight and untinted.
How long yours holds depends on how quickly your lashes cycle, how well you avoid oil-based products on the lash line, and whether you keep them dry for the first 24 hours. Patients in Glen Ellyn and Naperville who swim or work out often tell us the lift holds up far better than mascara ever did, because water and sweat do not affect it once it has set.
We recommend waiting at least six weeks between lifts. Re-lifting too soon can leave lashes dry or brittle, and your aesthetician will suggest a tint-only visit in between if you want the color refreshed sooner.
Lash lift vs lash extensions: which is right for you?
A lash lift curls and defines the lashes you already have, while lash extensions glue individual synthetic fibers to each natural lash to add length and volume. If you want a natural, open-eyed look with no upkeep, a lift is usually the better choice. If you want dramatic length and fullness beyond what your natural lashes can give, extensions deliver that, at the cost of fills every two to three weeks and careful daily handling.
The practical differences add up. A lift needs one appointment every six to eight weeks and no special routine beyond avoiding oil on the lash line. Extensions need regular fills, gentle cleansing, no rubbing, and no oil-based products near the eyes, and the adhesive can irritate sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers. A lift is also gentler on the natural lash over time, since nothing is attached to it.
Many of our patients in Wheaton come to a lash lift after years of extensions, either to give their natural lashes a rest or because they are tired of the fill schedule. If you currently wear extensions, they will need to be removed before a lift, and your aesthetician can talk through timing so your natural lashes are in good condition first.
Who should not get a lash lift?
A lash lift is not recommended if you have an active eye infection, conjunctivitis, or a stye, if you have had eye surgery recently, including LASIK or cataract surgery, or if your lashes are very sparse, very short, or brittle. The lifting solution works on healthy, intact lashes, and your aesthetician will say so plainly if yours need time to recover first.
You should also mention at your consultation if you are pregnant or nursing, if you have very sensitive or dry eyes, if you have reacted to hair dye, lash dye, or adhesive in the past, or if you are undergoing chemotherapy or taking medication that affects hair growth. None of these automatically rules out a lift, but they shape what your aesthetician recommends and whether the tint is included.
If you wear contact lenses, plan to remove them before the appointment and bring your glasses. And if you have lash extensions on, they must be removed before a lift can be performed.
